Get ready for a blast of color and creativity at the 2nd Tampa Bay Chalk Festival, hosted by the Pinellas Diaspora Arts Project (PDAP) on the Deuces! Join us on Saturday, May 4, from 9
am to 4 pm, for a day filled with artistic fun for all ages!
Artists, both young and old, are invited to register for this free, family-friendly event. The sidewalks of the historic Deuces, from 7th Avenue South to 9th Avenue South, will be transformed into a vibrant display of colorful squares. This year's theme, “PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT: Sustaining our Future,” aims to raise awareness about local and global ecological issues.
Organized by award-winning visual artist and filmmaker educator, Debbie Yati Garrett, the festival received a Creative Pinellas BEYOND PLACEMAKING grant. This grant, supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, Creative Pinellas, the Pinellas County Board of County
Commissioners, and the State of Florida, aims to bring the community, tourists, businesses, and art district together to revitalize and elevate the Tampa Bay Area.
While you're here, don't forget to explore the businesses along the Deuces corridor, such as Lorene’s Fish & Crab House, Heavy’s Restaurant, Rastaman Natural Juices, and Urban Drinkery, offering delicious treats to keep you energized throughout the day.
As part of THE BEAUTIFY PROJECT (TBF), PDAP will also host a rock painting clinic at Urban Drinkery. Join us in beautifying local businesses and establishments, starting with Urban Drinkery. Paint rocks silver, black, or gold to line the walkways and add to the vibrant atmosphere!
The festival kicks off at 9 am and runs until 4 pm.
The schedule includes vendor/partner/artist set up at 8 am, with the street closing at 8:45 am for all vehicles.
Enjoy a day filled with events, with the award presentation at 4 pm and street clean up starting at 4:30 pm.
